Disney's Aladdin Jr.
A Lad, a Lamp and a Princess - ‘Aladdin’ Shines at Theatre Arlington

ARLINGTON -- Theatre Arlington’s magical production of Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. transports the audience from Main Street, Arlington to the streets of Agrabah as they fly with the cast on a journey into "A Whole New World."

"Street rat" Aladdin meets the beautiful Princess Jasmine in the marketplace of Agrabah. At once captivated, he is captured by the palace guards, who toss him into a cave that happens to hold a remarkable lamp. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way to a happy ending.

Director Todd Hart assembles a cast of 36 young actors and technicians in Theatre Arlington’s largest youth musical ever. From beginning to end, the voices and staging are outstanding. Visually, Jack Hardaway’s set, beautifully painted by B.J. Cleveland, Ana Pettit’s lighting, and Tina Dale’s costumes help make Aladdin, Jr.
a spectacular production appealing to adults as well as children.

Caitlin Galloway’s Princess Jasmine is everything a princess should be – pretty, smart, nice, independent and possessing an amazing voice. Aladdin (played by Parker Fitzgerald) is lovable and charming and matches her note for note. Tyler Martin makes an imposing and diabolical Jafar without being too frightening. Graham Galloway as Jafar’s right-hand parrot Iago, and Dylan Chambers as the Genie bring impeccable comic delivery to their performances, especially with Chambers’ rapid-fire bits when he is first released from the lamp. The two of them steal the scene in Act II leaving audience members of all ages laughing for a long time.

The ensemble shines as well – all of the musical numbers are creatively staged by director Hart. The popular song "Friend Like Me" (a big musical number) and the opening parade in Act II are particularly memorable. This production shows how important a solid ensemble is to a successful show.

Kid-friendly Aladdin, Jr has everything – color, spectacle, action, excitement, a handsome hero, a beautiful princess and a happy ending.

Customer Feedback

"I was at the production today, March 26th, of Aladdin with my two children, ages 5 and 3.5. I just wanted to let you know that it was the best, most amazing, children's production that we have seen since moving here to DFW. We have attended shows at Casa Manana, Dallas Children's Theater, and Irving Arts Center. This was our first Theater Arlington show and it far exceeded my expectations...resembled a true professional production. My friend and I were not only impressed with the performances of the children (particularly the talented Jasmine, Jafar, Genie, and Aladdin) but also with the special effects during the show. I could go on and on and on, but just know your organization captured my attention for good!!!! Please add me to your mailing list!!!!! Thank you!"

"Sparkling and impressive. The parade was astounding!"

"A spectacle in the best sense of the word!"
